Feels like I’m on a roll reading urban fantasy/paranormal romance, and Ilona Andrews does a fabulous job—great battles and characters, just the right amount of humor, and steamy love scenes. I don’t have a great grasp of when things cross the line from UF to PNR, but whatever Ilona Andrews is dishing up—give me more of that. I wasn’t sure if I was in the mood for this setting or characters. I was actually all set to chain-smoke Eileen Wilks’s Lupi series after devouring the first, but this long-awaited hold popped up on the digital library, so I decided to knock it out first. I went back and read my review for the first book in the Edge series, and I was reminded that I liked the main characters fine, but was curious to hear more about William, among other characters. I got my wish with this book, and my heart definitely went out to this character more than it did to Rose or Declan in the first book. This longer book took its time developing the love and trust between William and Cerise, and that worked better for me too. The Edge series is pretty wild, even when compared to the Kate Daniels series. There’s some crazy stuff in Kate’s Atlanta too, but that world feels more structured than the Edge, where any kind of creature or magic seems possible. It’s been a while since I devoured novels so quickly—to be fair, I am on a school break and also on vacation—but if Andrews and Wilks are determined to suck up my time and steal my sleep, I’m enjoying it too much to argue. 4.75 Stars Skillfully written. The realm of [b:Bayou Moon|7130616|Bayou Moon (The Edge, #2)|Ilona Andrews|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1307445460l/7130616._SY75_.jpg|7392860] is extremely well developed and easily lures you in. I swear I could feel the mud & mire between my toes. The strength and grit of Cerise to save her family emanates from the pages. You can feel her emotions and understand her thoughts. You want to stand beside her and cheer her and William on. Great Read! I am loving this world. The Kate Daniels books are getting bumped up my queue. I wish this one had had a bit more sexin' in it but I loved it nonetheless. I get that Kate Daniels is UF and this is PNR but whereas the first one in the series definitely struck me as PNR-ish, this one might have been UF with a bit of romance, if not for the third person narration. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

I definitely enjoyed this one more than the first. But I just have a hard time getting on board with them only knowing each other a month and being in "love". The reason I enjoyed the relationship in the Kate Daniels series is that it grew in a more believable fashion than this one. The world is still one I love learning more about and I will still be reading the next books in the series. ( )
