The pirates of the junk-hunting Dread Crew are on the rampage through the Maritime woods…

ERIC ‘THE TRACKER’ STEWART:
Together we stole their ship. By the time you get to the end you see it’s really just the beginning. What a mess, those pirates, all mindless crashing with that giant woodship. I was just as blind to it as you until one day I tripped over a clue. So I started tracking. Then they disappeared. Then I met the weirdest girl in the world. Turns out she was their scout.

MISSY BULLSEYE:
He’s right. I am the weirdest girl in the world. That’s why I run with pirates. If it weren’t for me, they’d be a heap o’ splinters twice a week.

GRAMPA ‘THE JACKAL’ JOE:
I knew for certain there was no such thing as pirates in the woods. Then they attacked. And so there was indeed such a thing. Then they took me on for their own. In actual fact it was me what took them on, but Captain might argue on that point. Since then it’s been all maggot and devil’s club sandwiches, and rat’s tails in my tea. But my word, can they ever whoop.

HECTOR ‘THE WRECKER’ GRISTLE, CAPTAIN, THE DREAD CREW: (crosses arms over chest) (glares menacingly) (belches)

In the Maritime Woods, there is a band of pirates called the Dread Crew. They are ruthless junk hunters.

When they go to raid Joe, the neighborhood junk collector/tinker, the pirates meet their match. Awed by the man's massive horde of junk and niceties, the pirates recruit Joe to their team. Hoping to have some adventures and get the pirates to turn over a new leaf, Joe joins the band.

Hot on their trail, however, is a young pirate hunter who is intent on finding the crew. Little does the boy know that his old friend, Joe, has become one of them. When the trail of clues runs cold for Eric, and his friend Joe starts acting suspicious, will Eric put two and two together? Will Joe succeed in changing the pirates' ways?

A fun fantasy story perfect for antsy, spirited young readers. Filled with mystery and adventure, the characters are memorable and amusing and the story is entertaining. Readers who like pirates, fantasy, and action-adventure will enjoy reading THE DREAD CREW. ( )
