The surviving book is only a fragment, consisting of 19 illuminated folios, and is bound with an unrelated ms., the Howard Psalter. The introduction provides an overview of the first owner (Robert de Lisle, d. 1344), a discussion of the three artists (the Madonna Master, the Majesty Master, and the third artist), and hallmarks of their style, including the color usage. There is an analysis of the illustrations and illustrators, and comparisons to other art, but it seems this ms. is not clearly related to the style-schools of other mss. from this time.

Then this book has facing pages consisting of a color photo of a ms. page facing a description and explanation of it. At the end are related black and white photos, showing Gothic style that may be related.

This is an interesting ms. also because besides the common Biblical scenes, it has diagrams of the "Speculum Theologie".

Fascinating for those interested in beautifully drawn and designed Gothic style illustration, and the various trees and diagrams that are the Speculum.
