This is book two in this series and the stories do not inter-relate, so you really don't have to read them in any order. The author writes a very well written story, with very real characters, but her story lines can be very dark and disturbing. This story is about a family who most would say outwardly, had it all together. But Sadie is a battered wife, by a husband who acts like his wife is the one with problems. She is trying to raise 4 little ones, keep the house spotless and dinner on the table when Troy arrives home. When a little girl goes missing Sadie will reach out to the Mom and from thereon, her life will start to change. Slowly, she begins to wonder if her husband could be involved in this missing child. Yet another lady will reach out to Sadie and share her life and help Sadie realize that leaving her husband under certain conditions is NOT wrong. Things will come to a dramatic conclusion near the end.

I appreciated how this author handled this whole situation. It was a difficult subject to address and I thought she did a good job of showing the seriousness of this situation and the way we can misinterpret things sometimes. There is not always happily ever after endings in life and this story points that out. ( )
