Anything Goes, John's first book, gave you the story so far. I Am What I Am reveals more about the man behind the television sensation, focusing on John's unique approach to life and love. The book is filled with juicy titbits from behind the scenes of Doctor Who and Torchwood, along with heart-warming family anecdotes and personal revelations, plus John's perspective on fame and how it has affected him. Also containing exclusive details about John's forthcoming role in Desperate Housewives, I Am What I Am gives unprecedented access to the multi-talented man himself - an unmissable treat for any fan.… (mere)

Just as good as his first autobiography, I loved every minute of this. Several chapters had me laughing so hard I had tears. ( )

More biography, this time heavy on the funny stories and shenanigans in the course of a career in show business and living life as an openly gay man. Easy to pick up this book and read a few paragraphs or pages at a time. More Doctor Who and Torchwood backstage stories than his other book. And don't forget the footnotes - they are fun and funny! Published before his current gig on Arrow. Grab some popcorn and have some fun. ( )

Second volume of Barrowman's memoirs, written with his sister Carole Barrowman. While the first volume was a largely chronological memoir of his life so far, this volume is a selection of stories arranged more by theme than by time, and including a lot of material in direct response to questions he was asked after the first volume was published. As with any good actor biography, part of the appeal of this book is a more general look at the side of showbusiness that the public don't see for themselves, including the amount of work needed to put a show on, whether on stage or tv. Well written, and very entertaining if this sort of book is your sort of thing. ( )

I thought 'I Am What I Am' was funny and a lovely story. My favourite parts were the 'Table Talk' sections. They were VERY funny. ( )

I am what I am was an enjoyable read. Unlike Anyhting Goes However I felt a little disconnected from some of the material. This is only because he talks about some of his shows from England which I was not able to watch, so I didn't have that emotional connection that someone who watched the shows would have had. Still, John shares moments from his life that I really enjoyed reading about. From his crazy antics to his deep love for his family, friends and fans, you'll love every moment of this journey. I reccomend this book, ( )
