This book tells the story of a young ballet dancer named Alicia’s who desperately wants a tutu to wear to ballet class. This brought up a great discussion topic for a classroom when the mother explains the difference between Alicia needing a tutu and wanting a tutu. Then when presented with a surprise present from her Grandma she is disappointed with a new bedroom furniture set. She begins to pout and blame this unfortunate situation on her little brother when the whole time he was just trying to make her happy. This also brought up a lesson that would be good to share with a classroom. A lesson that we should appreciate what we have and be thankful. Eventually Alicia open up one of the dresser drawers and inside is a beautiful pink tutu from her grandma. I feel this book would be great to read out loud and discuss as a young class of students. It contains several instances where important real world actions could be discussed and learned from. The book itself has a medium amount of writing on each page and the sentences are not too difficult for a young student to understand. ( )

Alicia's Tutu brings to life the power of dreams that people in our life's can create. All Alicia wants in right now is a tutu for dance class. When speaking to her grandmother, she assures her that she will be getting a present from her. Thinking that she may get the tutu she's been wanting, Alicia is all excited for her gift. The present turned out to be a bedroom set for her room. As Alicia was putting away clothes in her new dresser, she found the tutu and a note from her grandmother inside one of the drawers. Dreams do happen to those who wait. ( )
