Its fantasies of fulfilling its individual potential by escaping the anonymity of the flock culminate in its near slaughter. When the goose's frankly rubbish attempt at mimicking a lion goes disastrously wrong, the gauche bird hastens back to its humdrum existence hissing around after small children in its local park. ( ) This was a silly story about a goose who envied all the special talents of the animals all around her and didn't appreciate the beauty of being like other geese until imitating a lion got her into trouble that only blending in with the crowd could get her out of. She doesn't give up her independent personality though. She just learns to appreciate the occasional benefits of occasionally blending in. It's mostly a story about the value of acceptance. Suzy Goose is disappointed that she is like everyone else so she goes around to observe other animals and their special traits (i.e. a bat hanging upside down and an elephant spraying himself with his trunk). She comes upon a lion and loves his roar. But she annoys lion, waking him with her "ROARHONK!" Suzy Goose flees from the lion and hides in her flock of other geese. The lion can't tell who she is so he walks away. I'm not quite sure about the message of the book, as I understand it. Being ok that you look like everyone else after being chased by a lion? The illustrations are very nice, but maybe there's a cultural difference (as the author is Czech) but I'm just a bit lost when telling young children it's ok to be like everyone else. I'm not sure.... ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
