There is never a reason to "spank" a woman as though she is a child, especially when bad and disgusting behavior is ok for the male. SO yet another semi abusive male gets off scott free. It certainly adds nothing to the story line. ( ) Claire Marsden and Edward Byron have been engaged virtually since she was born, but the Duke of Clybourne has ignored her since until he suddenly decides he must marry. Claire secretly loves Edward, but realises he does not love her back and the marriage is one of convenience. She won't tolerate being in a loveless marriage like her parents and so schemes to frustrate Edward enough that he will call off the engagement. Meanwhile Edward has enough on his plate trying to figure out who is passing vital information to the French. A nice light read. This is my first book by Tracy Anne Warren. I've been on a historical kick and grabbed this at random from my TBR shelf. Having read it, I'm anxious to go back and read the first two in the series. Edward was an excellent character. He's strong, responsible and just a tad domineering, but he's also kind, sensitive and extremely sexy. He takes his responsibilities serious, but he unwinds and relaxes around his family. I think the amount of responsibility a Duke carries is often downplayed in romance novels, but not here. Warren really did an excellent job of showing the weight of responsibility, without weighing the novel down or making Edward boring. Claire was harder to pin down. I enjoyed certain things about her. Her zest for life was unparalleled, and her sense of humor and charm made her a likable character. The longer her antics went on, and the more outrageous they became, however, the more frustrated with her I became. Though Claire's actions bothered me, I enjoyed this novel for the most part. I'm anxious to read Mallory's book (Edward's sister, the next entry in the series) and also to read about Cade and Jack (the first two books in the series). I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed in this one. I loved Seduced By His Touch (see my review). While I ended up having an overall pleasant reading experience, I found this one to start too slow. On top of that, Claire's short-sightedness and stubbornness started to grate on my nerves after a while. Still, the romance was sweet. I'm hoping that I like next one in this series, Wicked Delights of a Bridal Bed, better though. Semi-entertaining book. Hero and heroine are betrothed from her birth but have little contact until he decides to honor the contract when shes in her early 20s. Heroine doesn't want to marry him because they don't know each other but her father won't get her out of the contract so she decides to get the duke (hero) to call it off by behaving inappropriately, etc. Heroine became slightly annoying after this was repeated multiple times. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
