Then, I saw the Dateline episode that focused on the murder of Maurizio Gucci and trial of his ex-wife, Patrizia. I was pretty intrigued by the story. Dateline also advertised this book. I figured I would read it as the book is often better than the movie, in my experience. Well, I’m pretty sure I will like the movie better. This book heavily focused on the growth of the Gucci business and the family drama. I think it was well written, researched, and detailed. It was just way more than I have an interest. I was interested in the family dynamics, marriage between Maurizio and Patrizia, their children, and relationships after their separation. I like learning about people and not so much about the business. I have a feeling I will like the movie better. The book begins with the shooting of Mauricio Gucci in the early nineties. It then rewinds to present a history of the firm. It Is from Florence Italy. While there is a legend the family built saddles hundreds of trays ago the author discounts that and tells the story of the modern fashion company. The main focus is on the family and the leaders of the company - how they lead their lives and spent the wealth they developed. There is a lot of detail that makes the story interesting to someone not in to style or fashion. What a jam-packed ride! A page turner dense with details, history and intrigue! I was sucked into the life of this crazy family drama. Very well researched and so interesting. I have not seen the movie and wanted to read this book first and now look forward to seeing how it was treated. There was so much fighting in the family and with other businesses. The excesses of success and failure. I found it very interesting and enjoyed learning about this world-famous name. Although I have never been fond of Gucci, but i could not put this story down and made me want to learn about so many of the people involved. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Also screw you Gucci for not allowing women to own any part of the company, that's not a great legacy. (
