I enjoyed this book because it provided a lot of information about the history of trains and how they have evolved today. For example, "There used to be a caboose at the end of every freight train. It was like a little house on wheels... The conductor was responsible for checking the freight... Today, computers are responsible for scheduling and running trains." I enjoyed reading about the evolution of trains and the incorporation of technology. I also enjoyed the photographs on each page. The photographs cover the entire page and the adjacent page is only text. I like this because it allows the reader to focus on one at a time. Each page of the book talks about a different type of train, such as passenger trains, tank cars, and freight trains, so the reader will receive a well-rounded education about trains. I highly recommend this book for children interested in learning about the history and evolution of trains. ( ) The book “Trains” by Seymour Simon was very informative. Instead of having a table of contents each page depicted a different type of train or train car. The flow and information was accurate, but I wish there was more pictures and information to read. The information book is easy to read, and would be a welcome addition to any classroom. Each page contains information the history of each train. The language is simple and easy to understand. “Trains made the word a different place. Before the invention of trains journeys took many weeks or months on foot or wagon.” Simple explanations like that are very concise. I think that the book could be even more informative with a glossary or table of contents. The big idea is that trains are important, and have changed over time to meet the needs of America. This non-fiction book talks about various ideas associated with trains. The book discusses the different types of trains from steam and diesel locomotives to electric trains and passenger trains. The book also discusses the impact that trains have had on industry. From the transportation of food to the overnight mail services allowed because of trains, the train has had an unimaginable impact on our country’s history. The pictures in this book will be entertaining to most readers, especially those already interested in trains. The pictures are colorful and represent all of the topics mentioned well. This book would be a great resource to use when introducing the impact various types of transportation have had on industry. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
