Illustrations sell this one very well. ( )

Cute book about a flamingo that wanted to experiment eating different things to turn different colors. There's a fairly subtle set of interpretations that could be read into the book about experimentation, fitting in, "no place like home", etc. Or just enjoy it for the wacky illustrations. ( )

A story about a flamingo, named Sylvie, who wanted to be unique and colorful like the world around her. Her mother told her that they were pink because of the pink shrimp they ate. This gave Sylvie the impression that she would turn the color of whatever she ate, and it worked! However, she started to feel sick so she decided to go back to eating shrimp. This is a great story to pass the message to kids to be themselves.

Sylvie is a funny book about a flamingo who discovers that she is the color pink because of the pink shrimp she eats. This gives Sylvie the idea to start eating things in all different colors and patterns. After consuming way too many items and turning every color imaginable, Sylvie doesn't feel so well. She then decides that pink is the best shade on her after all.

This would be a great read to encourage individuality, staying true to yourself, and also embracing one another's differences.

This would be the perfect book to read to Kindergartners or first graders at the beginning of the school year.

Summary: This is a book about a flamingo that wonders why she is pink. Her mother explains that it is because of the shrimp they eat. Slyvie wonders if she will turn other colors depending on what she eats. She travels through the beach and turns various colors and patterns, just to find out that she liked being pink best.
Critique: I think this book was really cute and had great illustrations. It was fun to read aloud to the class because of the amount of participation they had given me.
Prompts: What do you think Sylvie is going to do after her mother tells her the reason she is so pink?
Craft Elements: This would be a good book to read when introducing skills on self love.
