This is one of the classics of science fiction, and I greatly enjoy reading it. This was a re-read of it, reading to my children, who also enjoyed it. I will not promote this book by reviewing it for it's contents (good or bad), nor will I support the homophobe of an author by buying the book. http://www.salon.com/2013/05/07/sci_fi_icon_orson_scott_card_hates_fan_fiction_t... DNF ~80 pages in, didn't see what the big deal was. Wasn't digging the crass/stupid kid dialogue, nor the cheesy sci-fi concepts, none of which were really explained in much detail. The writing is bad. Also, the main character - he's arrogant and violent and yet also a bullied underdog? Clearly this is meant for kids, and feels like it was written by a kid. Wow, that was quite a story. This would be an awesome book for a book club. There are so many things in this story that one could sit down and discuss. It was easy to read and hard to put down in places. There was at least two parts where I was able to guess what would happen next. But as I worked through the book, I kept saying how it was getting even more interesting. There are parts of this story that I'm sure I will be pondering for days. My Son is reading it now and my daughter said she would start it soon. I am anxious for them to be done so we can have some conversations about this one. And there is a movie coming out very soon. I am anxious to see that. To the author, Orson Scott Card, I say very nicely done. You tell a very good story. I look forward to reading more of your work.
I am aware that this sounds like the synopsis of a grade Z, made-for-television, science-fiction-rip-off movie. But Mr. Card has shaped this unpromising material into an affecting novel full of surprises that seem inevitable once they are explained. The key, of course, is Ender Wiggin himself. Mr. Card never makes the mistake of patronizing or sentimentalizing his hero. Belongs to SeriesEnder's saga (1) Indeholdt iEr genfortalt iHas the adaptationIs an expanded version of
