This is a very short and fun book.

Nothing really new about the setting or the story, very average.
1. Boy goes away from home.
2. Boy gets with a mentor.
3. Boy starts to learn what will make him famous later.
4. Don't forget a girl / potential romantic interest.

Very good opportunities for follow-up stories.

I kind of see a Dresden Files vibe, hope it goes as well. ( )

The story and characters were interesting but not compelling. I doubt I will read any of the other books in this series. ( )

A touch of scary. A touch of gore. Nice quick entertaining read. A good start to a series. It will be interesting to see if he can maintain my interest. A lot of long YA series lose me eventually. ( )
