Stephen Hawking is one of the most famous scientists of modern time. Despite suffering from a motor neuron disease that has left him almost completely paralyzed, he has made many contributions to the world of science, especially in the area of black holes. This book is great for an elementary school classroom. The font is big, there are either animated pictures or photographs on each page and there are words bolded throughout the book, with a glossary in the back defining each of the bolded words. The book discusses Hawking’s childhood, education, family, illness and contributions to science. Venezia has also written books similar to this about Marie Curie, Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein.
