She meets Blades arch enemy an he just happens to have a weight loss med. that works on vamps. Only this weight loss miracle makes her have really strange reactions. Blade thinks he is trying to kill Glory to hurt him. Israel is really into the Glory and him "engagement" they are pretending to have, things get interesting there. He is also interested in a med that Blades enemy is offering, one that may end his life. Ah, it gets even more complicated with the arrival of Blades Glory hating family, maybe a war ? Valdez still the cute cuddly bodyguard, has many "human" moments and is bringing a new aspect to the Glory saga. This book started out a bit slow, but quickly got rolling. The pace was just what I needed, to be able to just sit back and enjoy it for the story, not the unending action. My favorite character, I love Valdez, so snarky and sexy at the same time. Least favorite...Ma ! Glory is back. This time she is on her way to the Grammy's on the arm of her pretend fiance. When she discovers that there might be a way to lose weight for the occasion, she is ready to give up almost anything to do it. Hmmm, what to say. I always love Glory. She is a great character and lots of fun. There was not as much action in this book as the others and it seemed to be a bit all over the place. But it all sort of makes sense at the end. Still good but not my favorite in the series. I really wanted to like this story better. In this book, Gloriana St.Clair is in Los Angeles, California, pretending to be the fiance of Israel Caine, a musician and freshman vampire which Gloriana has been mentoring. Most of the story consists of Gloriana's efforts to lose weight/size during the week preceding the Grammy Awards Ceremony so she can wear a sexy dress and look good on television as Mr. Caine's arm candy. There's also a "reality" TV show starring Gloriana, during which three young designers compete against each other by each creating a dress for the Grammys. Gloriana chooses the winner by wearing the winner's dress on the big night. In an effort to look her best, she consults a vampire diet guru, Ian MacDonald, who just happens to be the enemy of her on-again, off-again love, Jeremy Blade, and she embarks on Mr. MacDonald's recommended weight loss regimen. Gloriana spends most of her time prior to the Grammys obsessing about her weight and dress size, stepping on the scales frequently, and exercising. She also gives up her normal diet of synthetics for a more organic, more "direct from the source" diet, and takes diet supplements consisting of undetermined and potentially poisonous ingredients, morning and night. (Any of this sound familiar? Yeah, me too. Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt that is now two sizes too small and hanging in the back of my closet as an evil reminder of my past suffering/triumph and ensuing fall from dieting grace. *Yawn.*) Her dogged determination to lose the weight despite the adverse consequences of following her diet plan and the pleas of her friends not to continue a potentially harmful diet plan become tiresome. She knows that the weight loss will be temporary, just as she knows that her engagement to the rock star is also temporary--still she goes for the short-term rewards. Another drug developed by the vampire diet guru promises the hope of temporarily regaining an ability long lost to the vampires. The drug is so tempting that several vampires are willing to pay almost anything for it, and experiment with it, despite the risk of "final" death should something go wrong if they take the magic drug. Rafael, her faithful bodyguard, comes to her aid again in this story. Missing from this story was some of the suspense and action of prior books in the series. A secret kept from Gloriana for over four hundred years (and not mentioned in four prior books) is finally revealed. As a result, she once again feels the need for independence, but rather than being entirely on her own, she may begin to see why some individuals love their dogs more than any others. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

As always, Gerry Bartlett delivers a light and whimsical storyline that’s guaranteed to make you laugh out loud a time or two. I am on the small side so I can in no way understand what Glory is going through, but her qualms are so realistic while reading you can’t help but to feel sincerely sorry for her and hope that, in the end, she gets exactly what she wants. Of course, it has been rather hectic on her relationship with Jerry because she has been having to pretend to be Ray’s fiancée. While reading I just knew she would have it up to here with the both of them and their constant bickering where she is concerned. The only plus that Ray has is that he wants Glory to be happy no matter what so he will bend over backward to make that happen instead of ordering her around like Jerry does. Join Glory as she races to get the weight off, keep the weight off, and satisfy a siren turned disgusting fish monster all before Grammy night! ( )
