This book follows Sir Circumference and the problem with having too many people at the king's birthday party. Trying to house everyone in a tent, they start with ones, then introduces the meaning of tens, hundreds, and thousands. At the end, they have placed people in tents, adding up to about 9,999 people. I would use this book in an elementary school classroom as a fun and interactive way to introduce place value. I really enjoyed reading this book as it discovers the place values through problem solving. ( )

Sir Conference and his many tales were introduced to me by a fellow teacher, even though my focus is ELAR, I loved the idea of merging the worlds of literature and mathematics as students don't always feel a connection with math. I was one of those students since math has never come easy to me but these books make the subject enjoyable and you hardly notice you're actually learning because they are so fun! I highly recommend this to any math class and any grade level because even high school students wouldn't mind a picture book read to them every once in awhile. ( )
