Fantasy. Fiction. Science Fiction. Thriller. HTML:BONUS: Now with twenty pages of bonus material, including an exclusive interview with Peter V. Brett, and an excerpt from Peter V. Brett's The Daylight War.
The sun is setting on humanity. The night now belongs to voracious demons that prey upon a dwindling population forced to cower behind half-forgotten symbols of power. Legends tell of a Deliverer: a general who once bound all mankind into a single force that defeated the demons. But is the return of the Deliverer just another myth? Perhaps not. Out of the desert rides Ahmann Jardir, who has forged the desert tribes into a demon-killing army. He has proclaimed himself Sharâ??Dama Ka, the Deliverer, and he carries ancient weaponsâ??a spear and a crownâ??that give credence to his claim. But the Northerners claim their own Deliverer: the Warded Man, a dark, forbidding figure. Once, the Sharâ??Dama Ka and the Warded Man were friends. Now they are fierce adversaries. Yet as old allegiances are tested and fresh alliances forged, all are unaware of the appearance of a new breed of demon, more intelligentâ??and deadlyâ??than any that have come before.

I loved this book and am shocked that it managed to better than the first one. It took me down roads that I was reluctant to travel in the story, having invested in what I felt should happen, but ended up happier for that journey. Brilliant writing, a tight storyline and superlative character development.
If you love Epic Fantasy grab this one quick. ( )

I liked the plot but couldn't get past the misogyny and sex = power and rape scenes ( )

I loved The Warded Man and his part of this book still kicked ass. I however did not like the other story line. I appreciated that he tried to do something different but it just didn't float my boat. I am hoping the next one bounces back for me. ( )

Love the multiple POVs in this book, and getting an in-depth glimpse at characters that had supporting roles in book one. Full of action, adventure, character-development. Absolutely love this series! If you haven't given it a go, I highly recommend! ( )
