Well, she did it. Wilks took three of my least favorite storylines—possession, old flame, amnesia—and created something original and enjoyable with them. Nothing was predictable, as I’d feared it would be, and the surprises were delightful (my favorites were the dragons, and that image of them flying through the gate, and Gan gaining a soul. “I do like you!”) .
Looking forward to continuing with this series. ( )

I'm really enjoying these characters, even as their adventures get weirder and weirder. She creates an engaging world. ( )

This is the 2nd book in the World of the Lupi series. There are 14 books in this series right now. This was a good continuation of this series. I continue to enjoy the story and the characters. I really enjoyed all the time we got to spend in Dis and the unique creatures we meet there. This is much more of a fantasy/urban fantasy than a PNR which is fine with me.

All the above being said by the end of the book my interest was starting to lag a bit. There was maybe just too much thrown at the reader at once. I am interested in how things play out with the dragons and did like their introduction into the story. However, I am not sure I am intrigued enough about it to continue this reading this already very long series.

Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend to urban fantasy fans if you are looking for a decent UF read. However, I am already reading a lot of UF series and this one doesn’t make it to my top five. As a result I probably won’t continue with the series. I may come back to it someday if I run out of other urban fantasies to read; it’s a decent series just not spectacular. ( )
