In Mirror Images, Scott & David Tipton, masterminds behind the celebrated Klingons: Blood Will Tell miniseries, beam through the looking glass to deliver a story from one of the most popular corners of Star Trek canon, the Mirror Universe! In the "Mirror, Mirror" episode from The Original Series, an evil Kirk commanded the I.S.S. Enterprise for the Terran Empire. But how did he rise to power, in a universe where treachery is rewarded as much as accomplishment? Witness Mirror-Kirk's plot to unseat Captain Pike and seize command!… (mere)

I don't really have any great fondness.for TOS, but I think I'll always make exceptions for the mirror universe. Such a great device to turn conventions on their head and really embrace the pulpy side of Trek. ( )

OMG star trek comics! For some reason I just can't pay attention to the TV series but I am becoming obsessed with the characters in comic book form. Does this have anything to do with my obsessive love of fan fiction? IDK, whatever.

A fun little short story about the rise of Commander Kirk as Captain of the ISS Enterprise in the Mirror Universe. Also includes a bonus chapter of Jean-Luc Picard's rise to captain of the ISS Stargazer.

Despite the cover art, the graphic novel in no way involves anything from the real Federation universe. So no Good Spock vs Evil Spock. ( )

I'm a bit mirror-universed out, to be honest, so I wouldn't have picked this up if it hadn't been by IDW's usual stalwart team of the Tiptons on story and David Messina on art. The art was as good as usual, but the story wasn't particularly interesting: it's difficult to create a good story about Kirk taking over the I.S.S. Enterprise, as he does it through a magic box that can disintegrate anyone anywhere. Obviously he's going to win, but the Tiptons have the unenviable task of trying to stretch this one-issue plot out to four issues. Why doesn't he just disintegrate everyone right away? Who knows? (There's also a random interlude about Picard on the I.S.S. Stargazer wedged halfway through the book for no apparent reason, equally pointless as the main story.)
