In a brazen attempt to get the attention of the prince of Wales, Llywelyn and possibly discover her true identity, Lily scaled the wall only to be hauled off to the cells below by the man know as Llywelyns Dragon. Lord Ian ap Dafydd could not believe that a lad had scaled the walls, but a women shocked him even more. After listening to her story of confinement at an Abbey for the entirety of her life, he realized that she had a legitimate cause to speak to the prince. Something had drawn him to her from the moment he saw her face, something that made him want to help her. Finding that she was not were he had left her, Ian realized that something was amiss and vowed to discover not only her identity but why Llywelyn did not want his own enforcer, the Dragon himself to know about her. All she ever really wanted was to know who her family was, and have some freedom to explore the world outside the confines of the Abbey. Something about the Dragon made her believe that all that and more was possible.
This series just keeps getting better, from the characters that we get to revisit and see how the love has grown (Rannulf &Gillian (Hidden Heart), Nicholas & Catrin (To Tame a Warrior’s Heart)) to getting to meet new and really fun people (Swen Siwardson) that you know will play a larger part in another book down the road and finally saying good riddance to one of the evils that has plagued the all three of these couples. Wonderfully emotional, taking the innocent of the Abbey raised and the heartlessness of the Dragon and finding common ground, in attraction, sex and familiar feeling. Took me by surprise at first who Lily’s family turns out to be, quite possibly the best twist of the series, but I will find out. Continuing on, (a 7 book series) this is the 3rd book of the series, even though it was the 1st published. This is an older Harlequin Historical book (1997), I have dug it, as well as the rest of the series out to re-read. ( )
