A shipwreck; a deserted island; a single family, wondering if they can survive. Rich in suspense and surprises, The Swiss Family Robinson entices young readers to come along on a wonderful adventure, where each moment brings a new thrill. Featuring amazingly resourceful characters and a wondrous landscape bursting with exotic wildlife and plants, it's an irresistible tale of ingenuity.

Sometimes you just shouldn't go back and read the Classics if you are in the wrong frame of mind. Although the story of a shipwrecked family on a mysterious island holds up well enough, the need for them to SHOOT EVERYTHING just drove me insane. Also, the fact that the island had ostriches and kangaroos is just wrong. I realise that at the time the book was written nobody would have known much about the origins of certain exotic species but to lump them all together for the sake of the story seems a bit haphazard by the author and grated on me. Meh. ( )

The Robinson family is stranded on a remote island and must rely on their own courage, resourcefulness, and family bonds to survive. A wonderful retelling of the beloved classic and timeless story. ( )
