The author is Mary Dawning Hahn. The main two characters in this book are Logan Forbes and Arthur Jenkins. They become good friends and both face character development throughout the book as they try to solve the mystery of Mrs. Donaldson. Many conflicts arise as Logan and Arthur stick their noses into other people's businesses as they try to solve the murder. They make many friends and enemies along the way. The main themes of Closed for the Season are coming of age and harmful assumptions. The setting of this book is Beaseville, Maryland. This book is an entertaining and funny mystery novels that teaches readers about friendship and good vs evil. It shows students that sometimes you have to break the rules of go abasing the status quo in order to be the better person and do the good thing. This book is easy to read, and it keeps you wanted more after every chapter because of the suspension of the mystery. ( )

Closed for the Season was written by Mary Dowing Hahn, and the book was published in 2009. The book follows Arthor and Logan, on their adventure to finally put to rest the rumors and other unanswered questions regarding the closing of the Magic Forrest Amusement park. The boys face hardships in their freedom, friendship, and facinations as the journey continues to unfold before them. ( )

Closed for the Season has been one of my most favorite chapter books that is geared towards younger readers. There is so much suspense throughout the entire book and I love a good mystery. The main characters are Arthur Jenkins and Logan Forbes. There are several settings to this story but the majority of it takes place in Logan's new home that a previous occupant was murdered in or the abandoned Magic Forest theme park. Arthur and Logan set out to find the killer of Mrs. Donaldson but hit a few bumps along the way. Through perseverance and many close calls with several bad guys, they eventually help Mrs. Donaldson's daughter and law enforcement find the embezzled money that had been missing for so long. Two loners who were previously thought of as nerds are now real life hometown heroes. This is a great piece to share in a classroom or even read for your own pleasure. ( )

For junior readers. Logan is new to town and has no friends and is about to start in Year 7, to make matters worse his father has bought the "Murder House" where an old lady died in mysterious circumstances a few years ago. The first person Logan meets is his next door neighbour Arthur who is in Grade 6 and lives with his grandmother who is an very opinionated woman and who was the one to discover the murdered lady's body. Arthur is a bit quirky - he rides a girl's bike, never stops eating and doesn't seem to understand when he is being annoying. He takes Logan on a "tour" of town and even shows him the run down amusement park called Magic Forest - an overgrown park full of creepy, rotting fairy tale figures. Then Logan and Arthur meet Nina, a reporter looking for information about Open murder cases like the one that occurred in Logan's house. But is Nina whom she seems and, after a run in with some local bully's and rough characters, Logan decides Arthur isn't that bad after all and maybe they can help solve the mystery. A chance find while they are clearing the attic of the "Murder House" helps.
Much better written than some of the juvenile mysteries I have read lately, this e-book had a few twists that I must admit I didn't guess. The ending is a little bit all over the place with a chaotic chase through the Magic Forest park, but apart from that, the characters and settings are believable. ( )
