All about sea life and what they do ( )

In the Ocean is an interactive touch-and-feel book. The story is about a young dolphin looking for his family. Along his journey he discovers other sea creatures such as coral reefs, an octopus and a shark. On each page a piece of material is incorporated into each picture. This material is supposed to feel similar to the animals depicted. This book is good for reading to a child one on one or letting children read themselves, but it is probably not something I would read to a class, because it would take too long for each student to feel the materials. Along with the touch-and-feel activity, a brief description of each animal is given. This book is a great way to introduce children to sea animals. I would rate it 4/5. ( )

Pretty pictures for the parent, but my son isn't too enthused. He does like playing with the textures, but this isn't one he ever brings over as a reading request. ( )
