I thought Ms. Shorey did an excellent job of creating historic atmosphere. It wasn't a can't-put-it-down-until-I'm-finished kind of story for me. But it did sustain my interest, and I was curious as to what would finally become of her lost son. She didn't leave loose ends, but wrapped things up satisfactorily. SENSUALITY RATING: NONE GENRE: Historical SETTING: St. Lawrenceville, Missouri, 1838 CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTER: MOLLY, a woman with pride, blames others for her problems, left with 4 children to care for. SYNOPSIS: She has had one disappointment after the other. Why should she trust God when so much is being taken away from her. She will persevere and trust in "her" better judgement. WHAT I LIKED: Strength to recognize her faults; One disappointing event after the other made the book a GREAT read.
