She is hired by a feminist to protect her from a stalker that turns into murder, a supposed suicide by the stalker and then a murdered pimp that are all connected. Synopsis: 'Sunny comes to the aid of three very different women, with deadly consequences. Hired by prominent feminist Mary Lou Goddard to protect her from a series of threatening phone calls and shadowy pursuers, Sunny must contend with Goddard's reluctance to reveal all she knows about the unwelcome attentions bestowed on her. When a member of Goddard's staff is gunned down, it's called a case of mistaken identity. And when the murder suspect is found to have eaten his won gun, two cases are settled, through neither to Sunny's satisfaction. At the same time, Sunny's older sister has discovered that her husband has taken up with another woman; and Sunny's best friend, Julie, normally a rock of married-with-children stability, has embarked on a ill-advised affair with a singularly unsuitable man. Assailed from all sides by people who need here, Sunny begins to look like the most grounded member of her circle. The complex emotional terrain she must navigate on behalf of her sister and her best friend is difficult enough, but the murder investigations lead her to the Boston underworld, where her footing, despite backup from her close friend Spike and ex-husband, Richie, is treacherous at best.' Review: What a set of less than appealing females. All of them need to get a grip, including Sunny. I've read all the Spenser books, even those by Ace Atkins. However, this is the worst Robert B Parker book I have ever read. Basically take Spenser, substitute Sunny Randall in the plot, and instead of being bored hearing about Susan, the boredom with Sunny is hearing about her dog Rosie. Throw in most of the cops and gangsters from Spenser books and then wrap the whole thing up with a non ending and you have a waste of time. Gets 3 stars because Parker does know how to do natural sounding dialogue. Sunny Randall take a client who tries to fire her when she finds out too much. The usual characters, Richie, Spike and the dog Rosie all appear along with Sunny's father and sister. The client fires Sunny but Sunny won't quit investigation until she knows what happened. How to avoid spoilers? I'll say no more. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
