Final reports on twp excavations in Northern Iraq carried out as part of the Saddam Dam Salvage Project. Qasrij Cliff, small Late Assyrian site of the 8th-7th centuries BC has produced an interesting range of Assyrian pottery. Khirbet Qasrij is later, dating from the obscure period between the fall of Assyria in 612 BC and the start of the Achaemenid era in 539 BC. It is the only site of this period to have been excavated in the area, and casts new light on this dark age in Mesopotamian history. The site is large and excavations were concentrated on an industrial area specialising in the production of pottery. No library descriptions found. |
