"In town, they called her 'Crazy Widow Dinsmore.' But Elly was no stranger to their ridicule--she had been an outsider all her life, growing up in a darkened house under the strict eye of her eccentric grandparents. Now she was all alone, with two little boys to raise, and a third child on the way. Will Parker drifted into Whitney, Georgia, one lazy summer afternoon, hoping to put his lonely past behind him. He yearned for the tenderness he had never known, a home he'd never had. All he needed was for someone to give him a chance. Then he saw her classified ad: WANTED--A HUSBAND. When he stepped across Elly Dinsmore's cluttered yard, Will knew he had come home at last."--from cover, p. [4].… (mere)

This book is exactly what I am looking for in a romance novel. Plot centered around the hero/heroine's relationship while showing the intricacies and complexities of a loving bond. It is never going to be simple or easy. They aren't just naturally attracted to one another and easily fall into love. This showed the work it takes to build and SUSTAIN a relationship, and I love how the author took the time to show that to us.

Both hero and heroine had imperfections that did not miraculously disappear. Both had strengths that were wrapped in insecurities. The ring of truth in their emotions was heart wrenching and absorbing.

Quite simply...It was a beautiful story.

I really enjoyed reading, "Morning Glory" by LaVyrle Spencer. The novel is about two characters that were raised in less than ideal circumstances. Fate brings them together out of necessity. However, over time they realize that their relationship is more than that of mere convenience. Will vicious town gossip, a war, and their inability to communicate their true feelings keep them from having a life together?
This book was a definite "page turner". It was very will written. I loved the various characters, and how the plot brought them together.
I'm looking forward to reading additional novels by LaVyrle Spencer! ( )

Jauks stāsts no sērijas: viss jau būs labi, viss nokārtosies arī tad, ja esi mazliet neiederīgs un mazliet dīvains. Lūk, tādas lubenes man patīk ( )

This is the first book I've read by the author. A lovely romance between two social outcasts, set during World War II. At first I thought it was going to be a serious, depressing book, but it turned out to be full of joy and wonder, with plenty of unexpected humour. Yes, there were some dark, unpleasant characters and events that I didn't enjoy reading about at all, but the good stuff was so good! I was surprised at how much I liked it, because many of Spencer's books don't look the least bit appealing to me. ( )
