This guy's sense of humor is almost as warped as mine! He begins with a "To the Reader" and a dedication "To My Wife", both written in flowery imitation of, oh, 18th-century English dedications to patrons. Including long "f"s ("As I flatter myfelf I had the happinefs of giving fatisfaction during my fervice . . .)

Recipes include: botched eggs, short shrift of beef, ground hog ("Really, don't bother. There is a canned liver pâté on the market which is just as good and hardly any trouble."), and seared roebuck.

Even the colophon ("This book was set on the Monototype in Pamplemousse Gratinée") and author/illustrator bios are funny. The illustrator's photo on the back cover features a Siamese cat in a saucepan.

Delightful.
