I’ve always wanted to dip into the world of Agatha Raisin, but never had the time. When I saw Penelope Keith narrates most of the series, I opted to listen to them. Not the best writing, but these are purely entertainment and the performance was perfect. Easy reading, dated in parts regarding social views (but that’s fine and the author wrote the first book in 70s). Although predictable, there’s something about Agatha’s sharp personality that’s difficult not to love. Possibly, those who love the books would like to be her, if only occasionally. “I thought your being here had something to do with Divine Providence.” Having everything you ever dreamed up isn’t all you thought it would be or so Agatha Raisin finds out almost immediately after she closes up her very successful pr business in London and retired to the country. Boredom immediately sets in and while trying to ingratiate herself with the locals a murder occurs which puts her in the limelight in the worst possible way. And so Agatha embarks on a new course...and a new life. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Putting all her eggs in one basket, Agatha Raisin gives up her successful PR firm, sells her London flat, and samples a taste of early retirement in the quiet village of Carsely. Bored, lonely and used to getting her way, she enters a local baking contest. Surely a blue ribbon for the best quiche will make her the toast of the town. But her recipe for social advancement sours when Judge Cummings-Browne not only snubs her entry, but falls over dead! After her quiche's secret ingredient turns out to be poison, she must reveal the unsavory truth. Agatha has never baked a thing in her life! In fact, she bought her entry ready-made from an upper crust London quicherie. Grating on the nerves of several Carsely residents, she is soon receiving sinister notes. Has her cheating and meddling landed her in hot water, or are the threats related to the suspicious death? It may mean the difference between egg on her face and a coroner's tag on her toe.
