This was a lot more enjoyable and more varied than what seems like its main influence, Lone Wolf and Cub. The tone isn't as serious, and Usagi seems to have some actual relationships with other people in a strange animal world. It's got a lot of sword kills but it isn't JUST sword kills, which is what Lone Wolf and Cub felt like to me. And I'm excited to read more. ( )

I put off reading this for years because I generally don't get on very well with manga style comics. But truthfully, if this hadn't been written by a guy with a Japanese name it wouldn't be referred to as manga at all, the aesthetic is very much in line with other Western comic books.

Trying to write a review of this to justify four stars is difficult, because the stories were pretty simple, the characters were somewhat one dimensional, and the art was pretty goofy in places. But I honestly loved reading this, despite it's short comings. It was fun and informative, and I kept finding myself stopping to google things about Japanese history. I can't wait to read the next volume. ( )

Entertaining the whole way through, with humor, a hint if love, and lots of dudes being sliced in half. ( )

Collection of first adventures of the rabbit samurai in strange world of animal warriors and humans. Wonderfully detailed black and white drawings evoke landscape and villages, costumes and customs of Japan.
