About six months after Caren’s book Finding Jesus, Discovering Self: Passages to Healing and Wholeness appeared in bookstores, we traveled to Boston for her to speak at an ecumenical luncheon sponsored by the Massachusetts Bible Society. Of the many questions asked, two were inevitable. “You’re Jewish. So why are you writing about Jesus?” said an elderly woman who mentioned she was an Episcopalian. “And,” she added, “do you believe in him?”
