It totally ended my fears that the series was crashing. While still drawing a bit on the environmental thread from Book 4, Patterson plunges the Flock back into their usual string of crazy adventures and interactions. I laughed numerous times, which I always do with these books. The training scenes with the US Special Forces were especially hilarious. And of course, seeing Max and Fang finally own up to each other was a welcome relief. Max's narration was excellent as always, and it was kind of fun to see her fears for once (of Fang, claustrophobia on the sub, etc.).
