The sequel to Airhead wasn't as good as the first book, but it did have more drama. The book delves more into Stark secrets and motives, as well as more boy drama for Em. I actually like Gabriel the best, I wish Em would pick him. I don't like that Christopher didn't notice Em before and it took her dying for him to realize he loved her. Steven was an interesting character, military and not having any of Em's pretending. I dont really like Frida, she's pretty self centered and is always mad at Em unless something is benefitting her. But I guess that's how a lot of 14 year old girls are. The end didn't leave me super excited for Runaway, but I'll read it to finish the series. ( )

This is a wonderful continuation of the Airhead series. Stark Enterprises is starting to look even sketchier with what Em finds out about the Nikki situation in this book!

What I most enjoy out of Cabot books are the characters. She has a flair for creating interesting, complex characters and turning stereotypes around. I love that she has female characters who are into makeup and fashion who are also smart, capable, and brave. It’s fun to see characters who view feminine stuff negatively have to re-examine their opinions when they’re faced with people who love makeup and boots and are smart.

We get to see more of Nikki’s family in this book, which I really enjoyed; it was nice to see her through her brother’s eyes and be able to get more information on what exactly was happening when the TV fell on Em. Along with that, it’s great that Em is becoming more and more confused about how she should approach her life; her feelings for her family and people from her previous life are becoming confused, especially since she’s wondering if she’s putting them in danger by continuing to hang onto them. It’s an interesting dilemma that she has to go through.

This is a typical middle book where mostly things are being set up for the finale; while sometimes middle books can drag, Cabot does a great job at revealing some intriguing twists and hinting at future reveals. This book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, so you probably want the third book ready for when you finish.

Honestly the whole concept is absolutely ridiculous, but I really enjoyed myself. This series isn't something to take seriously, but it is nice to read just to escape for a little while. I wish I could say that I didn't figure out where the story was going to go, but I did. It's exactly how I would have concluded the series, so way to go Meg! Really this is a fun adventure that you will want to put down but will find yourself unable to drop. Just read it, you know you want to! ( )

The novel begins with us meeting Emerson Watts as she is on a model shoot in St. Johns, clinging onto a rock cliff over a group of nurse sharks. She suddenly falls into the water and is rescued by her on-and-off "boyfriend" Brandon Stark (the son of her boss Robert Stark, C.E.O of mega-corporation "Stark Enterprises"). Later on at the hotel, Em gets a call from Nikki's best friend Lulu, who says that a guy was at her loft looking for Nikki (the supermodel who had Em's brain transplanted into her body). Em, assuming it's her crush Christopher, convinces Brandon to take her back to New York City on his jet. Grudgingly, he agrees and they return to NYC.

Shortly after Em arrives, she meets the guy who was looking for her. To her disappointment, it's not Christopher. It's Nikki's brother Steven coming to look for her because their mother is missing. Em tries to convince Steven she doesn't know anything, but barely gets him to believe her "amnesia" story. Lulu, obviously attracted to Steven, asks him to stay with them at the loft. During his time at the loft, Em notices that they have been bugged and begins to watch what she says there and in other places. Shortly after all this drama, Em decided to go see her real family (who are being bugged), and comes to the realization that she can't really go back to her old life after she realizes that she couldn't see her grandmother that Christmas. As she left her family's apartment in tears and was greeted by Christopher. He asked her to come up to his apartment (which was also being bugged) and began to talk with her about his plans to take down Stark Enterprises for "killing" Em. He also says that he can help her find Nikki's mother if Em can get him an account name and password for a Stark Employee. Em reluctantly agrees to help.

Em and several other models from Stark Enterprises are having a rehearsal for the Stark Angels fashion show for the upcoming New Year's Eve. While the models in their pairs of wings are lining up in a queue to get on stage, a model named Veronica who was standing in front of Em in the queue warns Em to stop sending romantic emails to her boyfriend Justin Bay. Em tells her that she has not been emailing to Justin because of all this amnesia but Veronica doesn't believe her. When Em successfully walks on stage she was about to enter the exit but then slips over a pile of feathers, believing that it was Veronica who set it up. After the accident Em was taken to Dr Higgins' office and had a discussion about parts of her body that are in pain. Em says she is fine but while the doctor was typing her user name and password on a Star member's website, Em sees it to give both the user name and password to Christopher.

After that, at the annual party that Nikki and Lulu hold, Chris turns up unexpectedly and asks to speak to Nikki (Em) in private. They then go into her room, where Chris starts kissing her. Between a kiss, he mutters the word "Em". When it finally dawns on Em what he just said, she asks him and he says that he knows as he saw her document when he was hacking into the Stark mainframe. He also confesses that he had always loved her. Brandon bursts into the room and saw Christopher with Em but tells Em that her sister Frida (who wasn't invited but eventually invites herself to the party wearing inappropriate clothing)is vomiting and was lied by Justin Bay about alcohol being fruit punch that had Gabriel Luna ended up helping her. Em comes up to Justin and asks for his cellphone but Justin refuses so Christopher chokes him to give his cellphone to her. Justin gives his cellphone and is knocked out. Em and Christopher go through Justin's messages and finds Nikki Howard's romantic message, asked Felix to track down the person who wrote this. Resulting Jonathan Fong in Westchester.

After the party, Lulu, Steven, Christopher and Em take Brandon's limo (with him knocked out in the car) to where Christopher's cousin, Felix, had tracked the real Nikki and her mother to be. The real Nikki turns out to have had her brain planted into the body of a dead, average redheaded drunk-driver woman. When Em goes out to check on Brandon, Brandon woke up and blackmails her not to see Christopher ever again and to be his girlfriend forever, or he will tell his father Robert Stark where the real Nikki is. Not wanting that to happen, she sides with Brandon on force and leaves with the Howard family, leaving Christopher, broken-hearted, staring after her in sadness.
