Kids love to get to know these biology characters that speak in first person. Green and Basher have created Inventive, artsy, fun, who am I, science books that kids enjoy and appreciate. ( )

This is a great book for getting students interested in the topic of BIology. The illustrations are captivating without being overwhelming. Each concept is given a one page description that includes important facts and a few creative paragraphs that are written in a biographical format. My children (8 and 6) love this book and are able to understand concepts that I would never have thought possible at their ages. This would be a great addition to any science classroom as it would entertain and inform. ( )

A delightful triumph of anthropomorphization, this deceptively simple introduction to biology has a surprising range which allows children to go as deep as the genre allows. Covers everything from Enzymes to Confiers to Baby in the Womb. It even has T Cells and Skeletons!

2. Write the summary of the book.

Biology is the study of life, taking in the animals, plants ans stranger creature of the world, there inner working as well as the minuscule cells, proteins and DNA that run them. There could be anything between 1.5 and 30 million species of living things on earth.
Charles Darwin was the man famous for monkeying around with the ideas about biology. He made the most starting of suggestions―that species can change with time. Darwin called this concept natural selection, and it completely changed the way we view the world.

3. Write your feelings about the book in details.

Cell―my most amazing stunt is to split myself in two and make another fully working copy of itself. This is how I contrast your body from a few hundred different types of me(See p 8).

I wonder why they are able to copy of themselves.

4. Write the words, phrases or sentences that impressed you most in the book and explain why they impressed you. Or you could write your questions about the book.

Bacteria―we may be invisible, but the world couldn't live without us. We recycle all the waste and make soil fertile, and we pump out just as much oxygen as the trees(See p 24).

Thanks to the bacteria, we can breath. ( )

This book provides a short intro to biology. It is very accessible and well written with adorable illustrations. It is enjoyable to read and is in a textbook format with and index and glossary. This book is basically a fun way to help children get familiar with textbooks. It also comes with a poster of the human body's systems for added appeal. Adorable cartoon renditions of body parts, DNA, enzymes, plants, and a jaunty Charles darwin with a monkey on his back and a sailboat riding across his top hat.
