At first sight this might seem another in the [Go Ask Alice] strain of penitential literature, or another late sixties sexploitation 'confession'. In fact it's a breezy, straightforward, cheerful account, supposedly 'as told to' the author. George and Hardy, our two heroines, wander about Europe from beach to beach, sightseeing, 'brickering' (stealing) what they need, finding boys when they want sex, and revelling in their shared jokes and friendship. Once in a while they get into difficult situations, and George has an abortion, but--all praise to Adrian Reid!--they are not punished or humiliated or forced to repent for being autonomous and taking control of their bodies and lives. This book may be amoral, but it is a huge relief from the punitive morality of much supposedly 'swinging' fiction. ( ) ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
