Found this early Spenser novel in a Half Price Books and spent a few dollars and it was... fun enough. The early ones are quite short and straight-forward. The fun is there, as are Hawk and Susan. The later books have more pages, more mystery, more turns and more elaborate crimes as well as jokes. Robert B. Parker's private detective character Spenser has another adventure in the 5th book of the series. A client hires Spenser to find the right wing racist terrorists who killed his wife and children in a bombing in London. The search takes Spenser and his friend Hawk from London to Copenhagen to Amsterdam and finally to Montreal in time for the the 1976 Olympic Games. Reading through the Spenser series in order I do think Parker's writing got better with each book. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

HTML:Spenser has gone to London â?? and not to see the Queen. He's gone to track down a bunch of bombers who've blown away his client's wife and kids. His job is to catch them. Or kill them. His client isn't choosy. But there are nine killers to one Spenser â?? long odds. Hawk helps balance the equation. The rest depends on a wild plan. Spenser will get one of the terrorists to play Judas Goat â?? to lead him to others. Trouble is, he hasn't counted on her being very blond, very beautiful and very dangerous. "Spenser is Boston's answer to James Bond...with a little Sam Spade and Nero Wolfe thrown in...Irreverent, witty, worldly...makes for fast, amusing reading."
