I can't believe I missed this book in 1984 when I was reading science fiction and working as a programmer. No idea what I would have made of it 30 years ago but it still sounds vivid and new today. ( ![]() The audiobook is good, if a bit confusing. I'm going to read it to see which is the better experience. DNF at 23%, boring, hard to understand and unlikeable characters. I've enjoyed cyberpunk/dystopian settings for a long time but I'd never gotten around to reading what is often billed as one of the early pioneers of the genre. It did not disappoint. There are a lot of ideas in this book that I recognize from later books that I really like. Neuromancer is one of those Sci Fi books that should be read by pretty much everyone. But because I am me I haven't even read a single Gibson book until a view months ago when I read his newest one "Peripheral". I really liked that one and so I thought it is about time I read this one. What a great book, although there are parts that have not really aged so well (comapny names for products) it is on the other hand written pretty much timeless. Highly recommended.
A new vocabulary for a transformed reality: the deeply influential cyberpunk classic, 30 years on from its original publication I have to apologize for failing to review William Gibson's "Neuromancer" when it appeared last year. I was led to believe I had done Mr. Gibson an injustice when this novel (the author's first) won both of the important 1984 best-of-the-year awards in science fiction: the Nebula and the Hugo. Now that I have read the book, I would like to cast a belated ballot for Mr. Gibson. Oni mu nude drugu priliku i potpuno izlečenje.
