In ‘Tess and the Highlander,’ Tess Lindsay is a seventeen-year-old beauty, who washes ashore onto a remote island where she lives with an elderly couple for eleven years. When the couple passes away within months of each other, Tess survives alone, tending to the farm animals and living a solitary life. One day in stormy weather, Colin McPherson washes ashore and Tess pulls him to safety. Colin convinces Tess to leave the island with him to find her roots and to confront the nightmares of her past. Needless to say, sparks ignite between the dark-haired beauty and the handsome lad. I think that the author develops the story quite well, and I would have given it four stars, but for the occasional grammatical errors, which remain undetected. In addition, the ending seems to arise a bit abruptly, and the author might have presented more details to the story’s resolution. ( ) Not my typical kind of romance story. Don't get me wrong I liked the book, but I was hoping for a little more of the story. The characters were great, especially Colin; I liked Tess to an extent, but I think she could've been portrayed better. The ending was what really bothered me, it ended so quick that it was almost like a cliffhanger. There wasn't much of the villains in the story which really took away from the book. I would recommend this book to a teenager, however, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to an adult. Not my typical kind of romance story.
