Books Read in 2014 (677) Der er ingen diskussionstråde på Snak om denne bog. i'm starting the year off strong with five stars right off the bat. not too surprised, i do love a lee martinez and i've enjoyed every book of his i've read lol ( ![]() To get ahead in life it helps to have a god or goddess on your side. After reviewing their choices, a couple chooses their god (from the online database of course). He moves in with them, mayhem ensues. I think this is a 2.5 star book. Probably would have been even funnier if I was familiar with more of the obscure gods referred to in the book. Started off as a interesting new take, but halfway through I felt like I had read similar books before. (I know sounds quite implausible, but think Terry Pratchett) This comedic look at the complexities of the human-divinity relationship is oddly like Christopher Moore's novels. It is funny, smart, sarcastic, and brutally honest at time, ,and it is these qualities that readers will be entranced by. It doesn't get any more amusing than a divine love triangle gone wrong, all at the cause of the raccoon-headed god of luck, Luka. Not even gods whose area of expertise is good fortune can evade all of life's pitfalls, and with an eternity to ruminate on wrong-doings the situation can escalate to godly proportions. Take care when picking your god, you don't want to end up with him or her crashing on your couch and eating all your food. Silly, but fun. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
Like many people in this world, Phil and Terry are just looking for their personal slice of divine assistance. It's not their fault that they decide to settle on Lucky, a raccoon god of good fortune. At first, everything seems to be working fine. But they will soon learn that the world of divine powers is not to be entered into casually. Lucky, it seems, had a falling out with another ancient god long ago. And while Lucky has moved on with his life, the ancient twisted deity is still nursing a grudge. Add to this a scorned goddess looking for revenge and it starts to become clear that Phil and Terry may have taken on more than they ever bargained for. No library descriptions found. |
