Java is the birthplace of Jacomena Maybeck, where her father was a sugar-refinery chemist; but when she was seven months old, her Dutch family went back to Holland.
Preface: I was touched by these photographs when Pamela Valois showed them to me, as much by Pamela herself as by the pictures.
A Note by Photographer: Several years ago I read an essay by Elizabeth Janeway, "Breaking the Age Barrier<" in which she speaks of our need to overcome the stereotypes of aging.
