The very best -- and witty -- explanation and demonstration of how to externalize the eating disorder and collaborate with treatment providers. Schaefer's voice is charming and engaging but also funny and real. This is one of the rare books by former sufferers that I can recommend to parents, but I feel it is important for parents to pre-read anything they give their kids and to be aware that this book includes some references to purging that may not be present and may not be appropriate. There are a million books out there about recovery from eating disorders. Read something different. Excellent writing and a book I've found extremely helpful. Well written, easy to read and for me, very motivating. This is the most useful and genuine book on eating disorders I have come across. At first, it looks corny and strange, and feels like something I am too good for. The book is designed with the eating disordered reader in mind, however, and anticipates this resistance. The chapters are short, two or three pages, because of the challenge it can be to concentrate for longer than that when one is consumed with one's disorder. Also, the author introduces something quite foreign to other books on the subject: humor. Though the disorders are serious, and not really a laughing matter, this book understands that laughing at it is key to survival, and that progress comes from laughing at the disease, and not the person. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
