Loved it! Great story. ( )

LOVED it different set up than Nefertiti which had a very similar set-up to The Other Boleyn girl, but I actually liked the balance of the characters in this novel better. ( )

I'm a big fan of historical fiction but only when the tone feels authentic. I've started and stopped other historical fiction books because the characters felt too modern, especially in dialogue, plopped down in a historic setting. Michelle Moran achieves the right blend with this book. I wanted to stay with the main characters and see how things turn out. The book doesn't offer any surprise twists at the end but I didn't really want one.

I have not read much about ancient Egypt, so this felt like a nice way to build familiarity. It made me want to understand more about the customs and shifting geography of the region.

I'll definitely be monitoring Moran's work to read more. ( )

Moran takes us back to ancient Egypt and Nefertari, daughter of the heretic queen, Nefertiti.

It is a well-written historical novel, rife with period details, good characterization and engaging plot. Delicious escapism for those wishing only to be entertained and mildly informed. ( )

I enjoyed this book. I never compare historical fiction to actual historical events as I think it can spoil the pleasure of the story for the reader. This book captured the atmosphere of Ancient Egypt. Ramses did come across as not too bright at times, but the book is named for Nefertiti, not the Pharaoh. ( )

I am sure that if I sat in a quiet place, away from the palace and the bustle of the court, I could remember scenes from my childhood much earlier than six years old.
