Fancy Nancy rolls through each letter of the alphabet to tell fancy words, their definitions, and using them in sentence. Although the concept of this book is very simple, I believe it can be helpful to children who are writing. By introducing students to more sophisticated words it can inspire them to use the same sort of vocabulary in their own writing. The colorful and detailed illustrations help make this book more engaging but seems as though it could overshadow the simple text. ( )

Fancy Nancy has fun telling people about different "fancy" or not your everyday words. In this book she takes a look at words starting with the letters A-Z. ( )

The idea of this book is basic--it teaches the alphabet through "fancy" words A-Z. This is different than traditional alphabet word books that use simple and familiar words to teach the alphabet. I thought it was very cute. The artwork is fun and engaging.
