This is, as you would expect, a very good introduction to all of the major sections of philosophical study, and also the most important contributors throughout history. I like that there are direct quotations of paragraphs of text, and that they found full readings for the ends of the chapters. Mine is the 7th edition, and they are already doing a better job of integrating minority viewpoints, so I imagine that the newest editions are even better updated. I found the first half of the book on reality and being, and religion to be rather dry, but the later chapters on the sources of knowledge, morality, and social philosophy were more interesting. ( )
