I enjoyed reading about this folktale and the way the man is clever in his approach to solving his disparities. I enjoyed reading about his personality and wanting to help out those in the community as well. Great read aloud for reinforcing an individual working for his community and caring for his neighbor. ( ) The story was rather a cute story of deceiving others. Perhaps, it's a story that tells of how deceiving others started? You definitely don't want to be a person that isn't at least willing to to do research and just jump into what others tells you to do. I'm not exactly sure how i would apply this book into a classroom. The artwork uses fabric for it's background. I'm not sure what it uses for the actual illustrations. Perhaps, cut outs or computer animation? The story was rather a cute story of deceiving others. Perhaps, it's a story that tells of how deceiving others started? You definitely don't want to be a person that isn't at least willing to to do research and just jump into what others tells you to do. Again, I'm not exactly sure how i apply this book to a classroom. This is a traditional folktale from Bengal about a barber who was often too generous and did not charge people for their haircuts. His wife was upset that they were too poor to eat so he tricked a menacing ghost into collecting money and rice for him. He was then able to be as generous as he pleased and still have enough to eat. Although the generosity theme was a good one, I'm not sure that they way he went about it was as good as it could have been. The last page explains that the ghost was a demon and that they are menacing but not very bright. In their culture they are not welcome and therefore acceptable to trick them in this way. The last page also explains the importance of barbers in their culture. Originally they would travel around and often cut outdoors under trees. They were a place to meet and tell stories. I really liked the artwork in this book. Although it says that they are created digitally, they look like they have been painted on fabric as would have been done traditionally. The images are crisp and describe the scenes well. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
