Literally my all time favorite book on this planet. This book is so colorful and interesting. It shows how wool is made while keeping it light and fun. it also shows that animals have feelings. The children who will read this book will truly have a great time. ( )

This is the funniest picture book for preschoolers. It's about a farmer who sheared hi s sheep, but the sheep were so cold that they wanted their wool back. The book talks about the process of making wool into yarn but does this in a hilarious poem. You'll discover the outcome of this story on the last page where you'll find lots of sheep wearing brightly colored sweaters! :) ( )

Farmer brown shears his sheep! He takes their wool and he cuts it and washes it and brushes it and spins it and dyes it. Finally, he makes sweaters for his shivering sheep.

It is shearing time at Farmer Brown's, but the sheep do not like losing their wool. Page after page, the sheep follow their wool as it is spun into yarn and eventually made into knitted sweaters. The book may be used as a mentor text since it provides rhyming text making the book easy to follow. It emphasizes patterns and repetition within the story as the pages build off one and another describing the process the wool undergoes. The pictures give the sheep human-like personality with its display of expressions and the way the sheep carry themselves. It might be a bit whimsical with its unsymmetrical color usage and cartoon-like characters. A fun picture book recommended for children ages 2-6. ( )
