I really enjoyed this book. I would use this book as a mentor text for my classroom. It addresses proper nouns like the countries, bolded numbers, ellipsis, and consonance with naming the kinds of animals on the bus. ( )

Piers' book, "Is There Room on the Bus?" is a great book for kids who are learning how to count. It also shows different emotions. Sam, who has a bus, sets to make a trip around the world. Along the way he meets animals who all have different emotions. There are also different amounts of animals at each stop. Students in grades pk-2 would enjoy this book the most and they could even act out each emotion each animal has so they can relate to it and remember it. This can also be a good mentor text for writing about how you feel so students can choose an emotion of one of the animals and write about it. ( )

This is a great cumulative tale.

Sam paints up his bus and decides to go around the world. As he go, he keeps meeting with different animals (in groups of 1 to 10) and saying sure, they can come too. Each time, the whole passenger list is recited again.

Finally, ten bothersome bees try to fit in, and everybody wiggles around trying to get away until they BURST out of the bus.

But that's all right. Sam can build his bus again, and meanwhile, the ten bees buzz away! ( )
