This book shows how the little girl's mother grew up differently from how she did. It shows how time and trends change. When Mum Was Little, is a book that portrays a mother's younger days through her daughter's words. This book shows how her mother used to do things and how different things have become. I enjoyed this book because it reminds me of things my mother has told me too. This may be a fun book for students because they most likely can relate. In this story the daughter talks about when her mom was little a lot of things was different. Gum was cheaper, did not have videos, and they went to the beach every summer is somethings she enjoyed doing when she was younger. My mother always tells my siblings and I somethings she did when she was younger. This reminded me of the stories she tells us. Sometimes I wish I was born in their years because it seems much funnier. The first thing I noticed when reading this book was the use of the word "Mum" for "Mom". This is something that is usually said in parts of the UK and Austrialia. Turns out the author was Austrailian. It is definitly an interesting story of a mother who is all grown up with kids, and one of her daughters is telling us what her mom used to be like when she was a kid. The colors and illustrations are very groovy and the story is a little bit of a blast from the past mixed with a history lesson. Very good book, but might be in the 3rd grade reading level area. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
