Indlæser... Idols of the Heart: Learning to Long for God Aloneaf Elyse Fitzpatrick
![]() Ingen Der er ingen diskussionstråde på Snak om denne bog. Some idols are not made of wood and stone. Idols may be good things (family, health, art) that have become more important than God. ( ![]() This book is absolutely fantastic. My #1 book of 2016 and I've read other really good ones as well. It has been a huge encouragement and very reproving to me. Tons of highlights. The appendix on Legalism was great. I would do well to reread this one regularly. Excellent book explaining how idols creep into our hearts and how they effect our Christian lives. What is an idol? Anything that obscures our vision of/takes the place of God; money, material possessions, relationships, worldly hopes, dreams or desires, vices...and many other things. This book helps us to examine our own hearts for idols and to purge them from our lives so that we can maintain our proper focus on God in all circumstances. It explains how idols are formed in the mind and move to the heart and how to stop this happening. I recommend this book for all Christians who desire a closer walk with God or who are struggling with idols... Reveals that the idols at the heart of our sins are within us...our desires, longings and expectations...and gives us tools for discovering and ridding ourselves of them. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
