I like this series a lot. ( ) Reviewed by The Story Siren for TeensReadToo.com Maurey finds himself on a new adventure across the sea to a neighboring kingdom. He is sought to protect the Princess Eleanor, whose brother has been murdered. The Princess is promised to Maurey's brother, King Dugald, and he would trust only Maurey with her protection. But it seems there is more wickedness afoot and both Maurey and Eleanor must work together to save both kingdoms. The sequel to NIGHTWALKER may be even better than the first book! I was pleasantly surprised yet again! I do admit to being slightly confused at the beginning of this novel. I was unfamiliar with the characters that were telling the story, but it was soon cleared up and I think I may have enjoyed it more than I did with Maurey's point of view in the first novel. Johansen continues to impress me with her gift of storytelling. Its likeness is parallel with the first book in its fast-paced plot, compelling characters, and abundance of action. "...a gripping read... an enjoyable series. The books are quite short for fantasy (this one is only 176 pages), but they pack a lot of plot-driven punch. I am looking forward to the third installment" Johansen’s sense of humour continues in the same vein as initiated in Nightwalker and the plot as well as the fighting episodes are as exciting as ever. Often the second book in a series is not as good as the first, but Treason in Eswy is every bit as good as Nightwalker. Highly Recommended. “The action is fierce and the typical medieval landscape and setting raw and believable. Johansen creates a complex world swirling with mystery, magic, betrayal, political scheming and romance. The reader will settle in for a few hours of gripping the covers until the last word is read, with the anticipation of a third book to complete the trilogy.” "Blending history, romance and humour, K.V. Johansen spins a tale of treachery and triumph that will delight her fans and earn her new ones." Belongs to Series
Years have passed since the conclusion of the prequel to this book, Nightwalker. Maurey, fully grown and a leader in his own right, finds himself pulled from his quest across the sea to protect a young princess whose life has been thrown into turmoil following her brother's murder. Princess Eleanor is determined to thwart her mother's misguided efforts to marry her off to her cousin. But even if she succeeds, her father remains a prisoner in Eswy castle, and a mysterious symbol shows up over and over again, pointing to some sort of plot against Eleanor and the kingdom. To achieve freedom, Eleanor and Maurey must work together and Eleanor must find her power. No library descriptions found. |
